Hi, I’m Amy.
I’ve worked in a lot of wild places, but my focus has always been people. I bring the same empathy, observation, and understanding of how humans operate in both calm and uncertainty to my design practice. Curiosity, a sense of wonder, and a true desire to understand people guide my approach to accessible, beautiful design that helps people in meaningful ways, and, importantly, in the ways they need most.
I think that good design is an expression of the best of humans. I find purpose in work that serves the common good, fosters a sense of agency and self, and is enduring yet adaptable. I am interested in work driven by compelling stories grounded in a sense of purpose and place and work that bridges the physical and digital worlds.
My work as an outdoor educator required me to adapt to a variety of environments - coastal islands in Maine, mountains in Alaska, canyons and rivers in Utah- and to make decisions in consequential terrain while caring for others. I bring this sense of responsibility to design work for other people.
I now live amidst a sea of sagebrush in the foothills of Wyoming’s Wind River Range with my cattle dog and partner. We harvest and chop our own firewood and haul our own water. I am continuously delighted by the natural patterns you can only notice by being present, year after year.

When I’m not designing...
I feed my creativity and curiosity with linocut and woodblock printmaking, knitting, and sewing.
I connect to the outdoors through backcountry skiing, nordic skiing, lightweight backpacking, trail running, and mountain biking.
I teach others leadership, operational risk management, and how to live and travel in remote and austere environments.
